About

Sophie Hornick, MS, CCLS, CPDPE

I partner with families to build upon the strength and capabilities of all children.

Hello, I’m Sophie Hornick, the founder of Ready, Set, Cope! I am a Certified Child Life Specialist and Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator (and mom!) I received my Bachelors in Child and Family Studies from Syracuse University and hold a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University. Before starting Ready, Set, Cope!, I worked as a hospital-based child life specialist in both the Pediatric Emergency Department and multiple surgical departments at New York Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center. During my time there, I also supported children in navigating a parent’s illness such as cancer or COVID-19. After many years of working in New York City I moved back to the Boston area, where I grew up. In addition to running my practice, I work per diem at Mass Eye and Ear in pediatric surgery. I am excited to be expanding my reach to make a positive impact in my own community.

“Sophie worked with my 2.5-year-old to help prepare him for his cardiac catheter and stent placement. Sophie was there every step of the way and truly eased my mind as a mom and made the entire experience as positive as possible. My son was able to smile and laugh while waiting for heart surgery, because Sophie took the anxiety and unknowns out of the equation. We will always be grateful she was a part of our experience.”

— Brigid, Mother of 2.5-year-old Madoc
